Delivering Apple Pie
Bill Reichert
Delivering Apple Pie interweaves several characters between 1940 and 1963, from the war in the Pacific into postwar suburbia and the baby boom. These characters converge in Levittown—America's first major suburban housing development—where they experience abrupt societal shifts into conformity. Women in particular are pulled from responsible wartime careers and shoehorned into more limited housebound roles. For many, the all-American suburb wasn't exactly a perfect fit.
What critics are saying…
“An epic novel with a sweeping span and cinematic prose that delivers what modern fiction must: a cast of memorable characters, sharp dialogue, and a quick-witted, illuminating narrative.” - Eric Peterson, award-winning author of The Dining Car
